I'm taking it in an entirely different direction. <g> 

In my game universe gravity control comes at a *high* price!

Gravity control is accomplished with something I call an FGU
(Franklin Gravity Unit).  I make them small, cheap, low powered,
easy to build and available everywhere.  

There's just one little problem...they work by producing a field
that burns out microelectronic devices.  Everything electronic
has to be built with, at best, tube technology, and so is larger,
slower, more power hungry, etc.  Removing small powerful
computers changes the feel of the game a lot!  <g>

I had a exploration ship find a thriving civilization in one
scenerio that had advanced electronics, and (of course) hadn't
discovered the Franklin Effect.  Everywhere the players went they
blew all the circuits..made them most unpopular.
